Hard Choices is Hillary Clinton’s 2014 memoir covering her tenure as U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, framed around the argument that foreign policy is largely a succession of difficult trade-offs rather than easy victories. The book opens with her “farewell tour” as Secretary and then moves chronologically and thematically through the crises and negotiations she helped manage during the Obama administration’s first term.
