Саммари «Old School»

"Old School" is the tenth installment in Jeff Kinney's bestselling "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, continuing the illustrated journal entries of middle schooler Greg Heffley. In this outing, Greg finds his world, already fraught with the usual adolescent anxieties, turned upside down by a sudden influx of "old school" traditions and a forced return to nature. The narrative kicks off with Greg’s Grandpa moving in with the Heffley family, introducing a generational clash between modern comforts and an older way of life that constantly challenges Greg’s preference for ease and technology. This new domestic arrangement is further complicated by the wider community's growing interest in disconnecting from electronics. Greg’s mom, Susan, spearheads a neighborhood petition to ban digital devices, inadvertently setting the stage for one of Greg's biggest challenges yet. To escape the impending digital detox and his grandpa’s eccentricities, Greg reluctantly agrees to attend Hardscrabble Farms, a wilderness camp dedicated to teaching kids how to survive without modern conveniences. At Hardscrabble Farms, Greg is thrust into an unfamiliar world of outdoor living, communal chores, and minimal amenities. He encounters various groups of campers, including rival factions and individuals with their own interpretations of "getting back to nature," leading to a series of comedic misadventures. The book explores themes of environmentalism, self-sufficiency, and the generational divide through Greg's cynical and often self-serving lens. Readers witness Greg's attempts to navigate primitive conditions, escape responsibility, and make the most of a situation he'd rather avoid, all while providing his signature observations on the absurdities of both adult expectations and peer dynamics in the wild.
