Why Don't Students Like School?

In *Why Don't Students Like School?*, cognitive psychologist Daniel T. Willingham argues that the human brain is not naturally built for sustained thinking, and that this mismatch explains much of the frustration students feel in classrooms. He also explains why abstract ideas should be taught through concrete examples first, why practice is essential for mastery, and why novices and experts think differently, which is why "just let students explore" fails beginners.
